Black Walnut Tree
I found this "weed" poking up from under a tomato plant. When I pulled it out I discovered it was a Black Walnut getting started.

Stuck Pickle
One of Cameron's (4) favorite games to play with me is when I wrap his arms and legs up in a big hug and say, "Cameron, do know what you are?" and he responds, "What?" and I'll say, "You're stuck!" and he'll laugh and laugh. I think something similar happened to this cucumber when it was a little guy.
It just slipped down into one of the bricks and just outgrew the hole. My dad ate the part that was sticking out. I guess it was ok. :)

Tomatillo Shotgun Wedding
One of my favorite things to watch develop in the Square Foot Garden has been the Tomatillos (a Mexican food staple especially for green salsa.)I bought one plant to try for the first time this year and found out later that Tomatillo plants are not self-pollinating, so back I went to find a spouse for the first plant.
I wasn't able to get the exact same variety so I'm curious to learn if a little tomatillo is actually growing inside these little miniature Chinese lanterns (husks.)
As you can see one variety makes a teardrop shaped husk and the other is more oval. I have tons more pictures here.

Train Trip
We took the Wednesday evening "Summer in the Son" kid's group from our church to the home of the home of one of church couples, the husband of which has collected and built this awesome train setup. Many of the pieces as well as the controls date from the 1950's. You can see the whole set of photos here.
