Short Term Missions

Interesting article on short-term missions...

Just like anything else these things can be done wrong or they can be done right. I think our church does it right...they demand nothing and are 100% there to serve and work. Some of the kids literally sleep outdoors, completely roughing it the entire time and work incredibly hard. While some may get to do a little sight seeing if time allows (depending on where you are) the vast majority of the teams are there to work and are welcomed with open arms by the missionaries who beg them to come. But I'm sure with all the different churches doing different trips there are a lot of them that are not doing ir right and probably could serve well from reading the article and thinking about what it says. I just don't think that because some of them are doing it wrong that means it shouldn't happen at all. It can be life changing!

Hmmm, not sure I agree with his viewpoint. I see what he's saying to some extent but it's a little like "I better not exercise so I don't pull a muscle." I've seen some people come back really changed after short term mission trips and we've had visitors back that were the recipients of the blessing of the people that went.
